This motherboard also includes a lot of other features that make it ideal for both gamers and enthusiasts.

ASUS had very kindly sent me a motherboard in late August, giving me plenty of time to thoroughly test the features and nuances that came with each brand’s designs based around AMD’s X470 chipset. Usually, a proper review shouldn’t take this long, but there was a lot of information to cover, and I’m sure you’ll be interested in what I found.

With that being said, let me show you the ASUS X570 ROCS Crosshair VIII Hero Wi-Fi edition.

A Brief Look at the BIOS

Booting the X570 Crosshairs VIII Hero takes a bit slower to get to POST than I used to, but things go smoother after you make it into BIOS. Like many high-end motherboards today, this motherboard features two different interfaces for BIOS. There’s an Easy Mode BIOS for those who are not comfortable with poking around in BIOS, and an Advanced mode for more experienced users who wants to exercise a greater amount of control over the hardware.

(1) Overclocking controls are located in the Extreme Tweaker section, and overflow into the Advanced mode section.

This board comes with a lot of cool features, but I think the most important thing about it is how easy it is to use. You can easily customize the settings of the board’s RGB LEDs and the SSD eraser. There is even a handy section called My Favorites that lets you duplicate any setting into a new tab for future reference.

Overclocking is a lot easier than expected! You can get more performance out of your CPU by increasing the voltage. The motherboard supports up to DDR4-4400MHz memory.

CPU Memory and System Benchmarks

Cinebench R15 – wPrime – AIDA64 FPU – AIDA64 Memory – ScienceMark – Handbraked – 3DMark: Fire Stike – 3DMark: Cloud Gates – Resident Evil 6 – Performance is pretty standardized depending upon default power and performance settings. Overall, we didn’t find any issues. The boards trade shots back and forth, but there isn’t anything too intense.
